![]() ![]() China moon atlas plus#Plus INMO because of the quality and scarcity of this out of print Moon Atlas the price will continue to go up. If you like viewing the Moon or want detailed info on it this is the atlas to get. ![]() The first edition is 224 pages, extremely well written and richly illustrated with hand drawings and photos.Atlas is on good quality paper. Also so much moon information and info about moon flights and history of the people various craters named after. He obviously was a master at hand drawing the moon. Ill use the Rukl moon Atlas time and time again as I view the moon, always treasure it but keep it away from food, drink, smoke and animals.Īntonin Rukl was the director of the Prague Planetarium. I expect the price to go up more on this beautiful Moon Atlas. Part of the reason I bought them is as an investment to pass down to my 2 children. The price skyrocketed as they are the BEST, out of print and hard to find at a reasonable price. I bought the 1st edition hardcover for over $115 in Very Good condition and another copy in Good condition for $48.These prices to me are a lot of money for a Moon Atlas but the Rukl Moon Atlas is no ordinary Moon Atlas. ![]() Now going for about $370.If I hit the LOTTO Im buying one. I could not afford the supposedly better second edition upgrade. I'm an amateur astronomer for over 40 years and have seen over a dozen different Moon Atlas. Just received my first copy of Antonin Rukl Atlas of the Moon. I may have to buy a second copy in worse shape! It would make it easier for me to mark it up with my own notes, which I really want to do. I almost wish that my copy was a bit more beaten up. (They're not making any more.) Don't worry about the condition. If you are the least bit interested in observing the Moon for yourself, then get a copy of this atlas before they're all gone. I can foresee this book being my indispensable companion on future lunar explorations. I was concentrating on the area around the crater Clavius, and this atlas was indispensable in helping to make sense out of the impossibly complex jumble of detail visible in one's eyepiece. I just took it out with me for the first time this evening for a night of lunar observation. And besides, Rukl's maps are BEAUTIFUL!!! Lunar photographs are too dependent on the light angles at the moment of imaging, whereas Rukl's drawings capture every nuance of the surface, leaving nothing lost in shadow. What was a terrible loss for Huntley, Illinois, was my inestimable gain.Īntonin Rukl's cartography - nay, his artwork - in this volume brings the lunar surface to life in ways that no photographic atlas possibly can. The copy I ordered was a withdrawn school library copy. It's a shame this magnificent atlas of the Moon is out of print.
